12 Stunningly Beautiful Wallpapers Hidden in Plain Sight on Apple.com
Apple has been long known for using incredibly beautiful imagery for their product marketing efforts, and like most beautiful pictures, they make for amazing wallpapers too. With that in mind, we went through Apple.com with the handy developer inspector tool (yes it took a while) to uncover some of the full-sized images used throughout the Apple.com website and are offering them here for use as desktop background pictures.
Technically these images aren’t intended to be wallpapers at all, most are simply the retina sized image asset for a particular product shot or part of a webpages styling, but due to the ultra-high resolutions of the 2x version, they happen to make for some gorgeous wallpapers. The total resolution varies per image but we’ve included them in the link name, so while some may be most appropriate as a background picture on a MacBook Air, iPhone, or desktop Mac, others are great for retina iPad and retina MacBook Pro wallpapers… so take your pick of images ranging from gorgeous nature shots, rock climbers, mountaineers, scuba divers, solar farms, tree farms, and even a couple abstract product shots, and enjoy some new wallpaper!

I wish Apple would make this an official wallpaper.

“(need to crop and rotate with Preview or another app yourself)” – yeah, because Mr. Horowitz is just slammed with work in his tiny, tiny cubicle and does not have time to make the simple edit. Ha!
Love The Mac – Deplore The Mac Leeches!
Well no that has little to do with it, the intention here is to link directly to the high resolution images hosted at Apple.com and not make any modifications to them, not to host the pictures ourselves. That’s why these are “hidden in plain sight on Apple.com” as the title suggests. With that particular picture, I discovered it was quite beautiful but because it’s part of the iPad picture it may not technically qualify for a direct web-to-wallpaper readiness, thus the suggestion that you may want to crop and rotate it yourself (a simple process, I can describe it if you need any assistance with this just let me know). Now, I’m not sure why you feel the need to be rude, but maybe you’re just having a bad day, hopefully things turn around for you.
Though indeed you are partially correct in that I am quite busy managing this website! Hope that clarifies things a bit!
I understand if you are new to the Mac and do not know how to crop photos, but you can use the “Preview” application to crop and rotate the image for you. It will take a grand total of perhaps 5 seconds.
I know it is tough if you do not know how to do such things and the lack of simple knowledge can be bruising to your delicate ego, but there is no need to be insulting to the staff here, they are quite nice and they will assist you in these tasks if you ask.

I’ve been looking for this one:http://goo.gl/ZCakCU for a long time but haven’t found it? Does anyone know where i can find it?
Here are a couple pages I found with that image that might work. They’re not “desktop” resolution, but they’re the best I could find.

“Rock Climber in desert landscape (2880 x 1800)” has a single pixel white vertical line on the left.
I don’t think Apple “created” these images since many are available from other sites, not to mention the inconsistency of the dimensions. I’d have a hard time believing that Apple created a 1662×1040 image for some unknown standard.
“Waterdrops on Leaves” link is to the wrong image.
I wish those leaves shots were a bit higher resolution, gorgeous on the desktop and iPhone but not quite high enough for a retina Mac
