Apple has introduced all new reaction gestures for FaceTime on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, meaning if you make certain hand gestures, symbols, or movements, you will trigger a digital effect reaction. For example, if you make a thumbs up gesture with your hand, a thumbs up emoji will appear on the screen, or if you make a peace sign, you’ll trigger balloons effects on the screen.
Many of these reaction gesture triggers and effects work in FaceTime video calls, but also Zoom video conferences, and some other video chat apps too.

MacOS Sonoma introduced a feature on the Mac that activates Expose which hides all open windows and apps, whenever you click on the desktop. This feature happens seamlessly, and when you click on the desktop wallpaper, you’ll reveal the desktop by pushing aside all other open apps and their windows, thus revealing the desktop and its wallpaper. Some Mac users really like this new feature, and others are less impressed with it, and some may find the feature annoying.
If you do not want MacOS to show the desktop when you click on the wallpaper, you can turn off the click to reveal desktop feature in macOS Sonoma.
The third beta version of iOS 17.2 for iPhone, iPadOS 17.2 for iPad, and macOS Sonoma 14.2 for Mac, have been released for users engaging in the beta testing programs for Apple system software.
Betas of iOS 17.2, macOS Sonoma 14.2, and iPadOS 17.2, includes the ability to add stickers to your iMessages from long-tap/click contextual menus. Additionally, the iOS 17.2 beta features the inclusion of the Journal app, an app that allows you to create journal entries that include text, photos, videos, voice recordings, and other media. Of course the typical bug fixes and security enhancements are also likely to be included in the final versions of iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, and macOS Sonoma 14.2.
Stickers are a fun and creative way to enhance your iMessage experience, and the latest versions of iOS support a feature that allow you to easily make your own stickers from any of your own photos, right from your iPhone. For example, maybe you have a picture of a great dog or cat, or yourself, that you want to turn into a sticker that you can plaster onto messages. No sweat, you can do that with ease.
Some Mac users may wish to not receive messages, iMessages, and texts messages on their Mac, but by default if you have logged into iCloud on a Mac you will find that iMessage is also enabled, meaning you will get messages in MacOS.
If you’re wondering how to stop messages from going to the Mac, and to disable iMessage on the Mac so that you no longer receive any messages on a Mac, read along.

Here’s a helpful bit of knowledge that you may want to keep in mind when traveling or using public wi-fi spaces; if you use Content Blockers in Safari or your web browser, that content blocker may break a wi-fi’s captive portal login page, thereby preventing you from joining that particular wireless network. This applies to content blockers on any web browser and any Apple operating system, whether it’s a Mac, iPhone, iPad, or otherwise (and Windows too of course, but that’s not our focus here).
Uber and Uber Eats are undeniably useful apps, allowing you to get a ride or have food delivered quickly and conveniently, right from your iPhone (or Android) either from the app or even from Siri. But one thing that is very annoying and obnoxious about Uber and Uber Eats is that the apps default to sending you promo notifications and advertisement notifications, meaning you may get alerts on your phone from Uber and Uber Eats that are nothing but ads, promos, marketing material, or solicitations, and have nothing to do with a ride or delivery.
We’re going to show you how you can disable the annoying Uber promo notifications and ad alerts, while still keeping notifications for rides and other actually important stuff available on your device.
A fair number of Apple Watch users have been experiencing battery life issues lately, where the Apple Watch battery would drain much faster than expected or desired. In some instances, users would experience the Apple Watch battery draining from 100% to 50% or less in less than an hour, even with a perfectly healthy battery.
For the impacted Apple Watch owners, the devices poor battery performance began after updating to watchOS 10.1, and now Apple has released watchOS 10.1.1 update to fix that battery draining problem, which users should update to right away when they get the chance.
Apple has released the second beta versions of iOS 17.2 for iPhone, iPadOS 17.2 for iPad, and macOS Sonoma 14.2 for Mac. The beta versions are available now to users participating in the beta testing programs for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
iOS 17.2 beta includes the Journal app, which lets users track their lives in digital journal entries with photos, video, voice recordings, media, and whatever else you feel like feeding into the digital machine and iCloud.
Betas of macOS Sonoma 14.2, iPadOS 17.2, and iOS 17.2 also include an ability to add stickers from iMessage contextual menus. Presumably the versions will also patch bugs, add security enhancements, and provide other smaller changes to the operating systems as well.
StandBy Mode is perhaps the most interesting feature for iPhone users who update to iOS 17, transforming the iPhone into a customizable display clock whenever the iPhone is placed horizontally and is charging.
With StandBy Mode, your iPhone can become a table clock, a photo frame, an information display, amongst other possibilities, and since it’s easily customizable, how you use the feature is up to you.
The Apple Watch Series 9 features fitness tracking capabilities, heart rate monitor, blood oxygen reader, ECG capability, ovulation tracking, an always-on display, GPS, and a powerful new chip to make the watch speedier than ever. You can get the deal in a variety of color options and sizes.

The Disk Utility application on MacOS has a command line counterpart, that allows Mac users to run disk maintenance and disk administration tasks, including verifying and repairing disks. There are obvious advantages and benefits to using the command line for tasks like this, particularly for troubleshooting scenarios, and remote management, but some advanced users may also simply prefer to use the command line rather than the GUI app of Disk Utility.
Let’s review how you can use the Mac command line to verify a disk on your Mac, and repair it if necessary.
