Apple has released iOS 17.1.1 for iPhone, along with iPadOS 17.1.1 for iPad. The point release updates offer bug fixes and security enhancements, and are therefore recommended for all users to install on their devices.

Specifically, iOS 17.1.1 fixes an issue where the Lock Screen Weather widget may not display snow correctly, and an issue where Apple Pay and NFC features are not working with wireless charging in certain cars and the iPhone 15 series. The full release notes are included further below.

If you’re trying to use a Mac to update iOS on iPhone or iPadOS on iPad, you may see an error message that says something along the lines of “Updating to iOS 17.1 requires at least 975.2 MB of free space on your iPad. Please change your media sync options to make more storage available.” and be unable to update an iPhone or iPad to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS system software.
