Mac setup of a Police Officer home workstation

This weeks featured Mac setup is the absolutely beautiful nearly minimalist home workstation of Poyan P., a police officer. Not only will you find some great modern hardware, but there’s a bit of retro goodness too. Let’s jump right in and take a peak at this great Apple setup:

What Apple hardware is in your setup?

  1. iMac 27″ (late 2012 model) – 3.4 GHz Core i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 675MX GPU with 1GB of VRAM
  2. Apple Wireless Keyboard
  3. Apple Magic Trackpad
  4. iPad Air
  5. iPhone 5S

I also have an Apple Magic Mouse but I’m trying to use the Trackpad more to see how it feels.

Elsewhere around the setup you’ll find a couple of plants, books, iPhone boxes from releases over the years, Harman Kardon Soundsticks, a Macintosh 128k, Woody from Toy Story, a Steve Jobs figure, and a few other Apple accessories.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you use your Mac setup?

I work for the Swedish Police and have been a (proud) Mac user since 1993.

I mainly use my devices for browsing the web while listening to music, or some moderate gaming when I’m bored. Some of the games I play to relax are Counter-Strike GO, an old bungie classic Mac game called Myth 2, and sometimes Diablo 3.

I often use the iPad Air wi-fi model to stream movies via Plex to my Apple TV downstairs.

What are some of the apps you use most often?

Apps that are open nearly 24/7 on my computer are Terminal, WeeChat IRC client, Twitter, Calendar, Mail, and Spotify.

Snyggt! Vart har du köpt skrivbordet?

    /Blivande kollega :)

    • Poyan P says:

  2. Steve1 says:

    Wow! Amazing view

  3. Ken Cohen says:

My home setup is a big mess but has one thing in common with Poyan’s: a Mac SE30 sitting atop an adjacent bookcase. 1990 vintage, souped up CPU, OS9. Still in good working order.

  4. inhba says:

I definitely have a criminal set up. it is les boring though. This one must be good to avoid the stupid mirror glossy screen of the imac.

… and instead we get a peek at this set-up …

What a nice and simple setup:)

What the f*** is wrong with most of you? What is the problem of him being a police officer? Seriosly I guess his job is cooler than yours -.-

    • Mike says:

      It’s a wonderful desk setup!

I think most of the animosity about the mans profession is due to media events which get a lot of negative television attention in the USA. Maybe I am cynical, but I tend to think it’s politically driven.

  7. Dr. Nicolas Rao says:

It is so tidy and squeaky clean. Gosh I wouldn’t dare show myself, My Mac and camera paraphernalia all round within easy reach. He has a neat camera bag in the corner. Wish I could be that neat and tidy.

  8. Freedom George says:

Why would we care for a police officer setup? Average Mac user and reader of your site does not appreciate the idea of “law” enforcement.

  9. Wow says:

What a nice setup, makes me want to fix up my office a bit!

  10. David says:

Great minimalist look, classic Swedish design. Poyan, can you send info on the desk? Is it from IKEA?

  11. Shilo Watts says:

I think this is from the Ikea catalog…..

  12. Serge says:

Very nice setup and very swedish (mimalisim, wood). But the chair doesn’t look too comfortable for long sessions in front of a computer.

    • Poyan P says:

Thank you :> you couldn’t be more correct..it’s literally a pain in the ass after a while. But it’s good, it keeps me away from the computer!

  13. Stan-O says:

@Poyan — also interested in a dock and btw, there’s a hack allowing you to stream from Plex directly to ATV.

    • Poyan P says:

yeah i’ll look into that hack, i heard about it before:> also there’s no dock, there’s a cut-out on the table to fit an iphone and and ipad… charger cable coming up from underneath to charge the devices.

  14. Ben McCormick says:

What kind of dock is that? Holding up the iPad and iPhone

  15. Zach says:

Love the desk! Where did you buy it or is it custom? The iOS stands built in are superb!

  16. jason h says:

Cool other than it being from a police officer…
