  2. Locate the news source you want to hide or block
  3. Tap on the little sharing icon for the specific article / source, it looks like a box with an arrow flying out of the top of it
  4. Hide a news source in Apple News

  5. Scroll through the options and choose “Mute Channel” (or “Dislike Channel”)
  6. Mute a news source in Apple News to hide and block that news source from showing in feed

Thanks for this! Vanity Fair and Esquire have gotten too political with their articles – I’m out! Unless you are a political focused pub, please quit treating your readers like they are all of one political persuasion….it comes off seriously condescending…

  2. Daniel says:

Gotta love the people ranting bout OAN and Fox as if they are totally reliable, never proven wrong on a fair percent of what they say, and are totally not bias. Yes all news sources are at least somewhat bias but come on, do your own research into the stories that get the most reaction out of you, and youll find inaccuracies or exaggerations. Trying to block Buzzfeed myself because im sick of all the not news bull and their ‘news’ is totally made up anyway. Why does “If you recognize these pictures, your offically old” show up under NEWS?! Im 23, and the first picture was of blues clues which i grew up on. If that is old then who the hell do they have working there? 12yr olds? Yes. Or at least adults with the mentality of 12yr olds

  3. Kirby Elizabeth Manning says:

I want OAN News not all the garbage from the other news stations like MSN, NBC, CBS. Huff Post and the rest of them I’m over the News Commentators and Hollywood’s opinion.

  4. Joe Gideon says:

Block Fox News? Truth getting Un-BEAR- able? If you’re into killing babies, prioritizing criminals over citizens and generally blaming your self-imposed miserable failure of a life on everyone but you, you NEED Fox News- FAIR & Balanced!

  5. Steve Livingston says:

I guess I feel the same way about the Huff Post that David does above about Fox. I want the “middle” back! Today its all one sided, (mostly) left or right. Any suggestions – Wishful thinking I know.

    • Gina Corrazon says:

The solution is to simply not read or watch the “news” which is mostly trash outrage, gossip, and nonsense. How many “news” stories have you read that have impacted your life in the past year or two? Unless it’s about the weather, the answer is probably zero.

The middle is the majority, but nothing serves them. Why would it? Polarization and absurdity reigns supreme and keeps people distracted.

The outrage and nonsense is designed to get eyeballs, not to inform. It’s all mental pollution and Apple News is full of it.

  6. David says:

Fox does not follow any journalistic standards. It’s crazy Apple includes it in an attempt to appease the red hats.

    • Sedgwick Von Warner says:

There are plenty of dubious sources on Apple News, and so much opinion that it’s not a “news” source at all it’s basically an endless stream of op-ed and gossip. I mean there is no way that any of this stuff is a valid source of actual news or information you want to consume. The type of stuff you see on Apple NEWS is PEOPLE Magazine, Cosmo, TEEN VOGUE, Slate, Vox, the awful modern New York Times which has turned head-on into identity politics nonsense, it’s just not a valid source of information or news.

  7. Maggie says:

This doesn’t work. The only similar option I’m given when I click that box with the up arrow, is Dislike Story. I’m tempted to delete the app as others here have done.

  8. JA McCarthy says:

Tried to make small donation, but after entering all info THEN privacy & terms & conditions were offered. No thanks–but my little $$ had already hit my account. Now I get this diarrhea dribble of young guys with gender anxiety. Time to delete what brief exposure to The Guardian seemed desirable, but not, & herein share the learning to save other trusting souls.

  9. Mmkay says:

same here. Disliked the fake news channel and now it’s all I see.

Installed dedicated news feeds from reliable sources instead. Widget no more.

  10. Nick says:

Agree with earlier topic. Tried to remove The Sun from my newsfeed as it is crap written by so called journalists who would be better suited to using crayons. Ligand behold it now appears at the top of my newsfeed. App now deleted completely

  11. Dave J says:

You can no longer remove any news source from Apple news. In fact, any news agency you dislike will automatically appear first. The only possible way to stop being forced to read the articles you hate the most is to delete the News app completely, which is what I did.

  12. Ken says:

So I muted CNN and VOX each time I open the news feed CNN and VOX still are showing? I made sure to close the app completely. Do I need to reboot?

  13. Matias47 says:

But what do you do when a new did channel still shows up in the feed?

I muted a channel and yet it still shows up in the stories for you widget. When I tap on it and hit the share button there is no like, dislike, or mute channel that comes up.

  14. John says:

Deleted the News app all together. Too much news about the woman abusing orange troll king.

  15. J-L says:

Is this “News” app country specific? I live in South Africa and the app is not on my iPhone (iOS 10.2) nor on the App Store.

    • Evgeny says:

Coorect. It is not available in Russia too. AFAIK the app is already installed in your iPhone, but sits invisible. Do get it appeared, you have to change region in your settings
