How to Change Gender in Fortnite (Male / Female)
Have you been enjoying playing Fortnite on your iPhone, iPad, or any other device recently? Well, if you’re relatively new to the game, you might want to know how you can change your character’s gender. Maybe you want your Fornite character to be a boy, or you want your Fornite player to be a girl, as either is possible.
If you haven’t purchased the battle pass or any character skins from the item shop, Fornite will randomly select one of the eight available default characters every time you start a new game. Out of all the available characters, four of them are males and the other four are females (there are not currently any transgender Fortnite characters, in case you were wondering). So, there’s roughly a fifty percent chance that every time you enter a new game, you’ll automatically be switched to a different gender with that character.
What if you want to switch the gender of your character manually and avoid all this randomization? In this article, we’ll be discussing exactly how you can change gender in Fortnite with ease.
How to Change Gender in Fortnite to Boy / Male or Girl / Female
Although we’ll be focusing primarily on the iOS and iPadOS version of Fortnite, you can follow these steps to switch the gender of your character on Fortnite for Android, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and Windows PC too.
- Once you’re in the main menu of the game, head over to the Locker section by tapping on the “hanger” icon, located right next to the Item Shop.
- Now, tap on your current character as shown in the screenshot below.
- Here, you will be able to switch to other character skins that you purchased from the Item Shop or earned by simply playing the game regularly. Select the character of your choice and tap on “Save and Exit”.
- If you don’t have any skins for the gender you want to switch to, you can purchase skins from the Item Shop with V-Bucks.
There you go. Now you know how to change the gender of your in-game character in Fortnite.
It’s important to know that unless you have purchased or earned skins for both the genders, you won’t be able to manually change to a different gender in Fortnite.
That being said, you don’t necessarily have to spend money on character skins. You could gradually earn V-Bucks by playing regularly and use that for purchasing the skins you like. Or, you could buy the Battle Pass and get access to a plethora of skins, emotes, and more.
The easiest way to unlock a lot of character skins in the game would be by purchasing the Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks. Once you purchase the Battle Pass for any season, you can save up the V-Bucks you earn by progressing through the tiers and use it towards purchasing the next Battle Pass instead of spending real money. Of course if in-app purchases were turned off to stop Fortnite purchases then you’d need to re-enable those first before you could buy a Battlepass in the game.
