How to Enable Power On / Off Sounds on iPhone 14 Series
The latest model iPhones include optional power on and power off sound effects, similar to how the Mac makes startup sounds. This offers a nice auditory cue for the device being turned on or off, and while it’s an Accessibility feature, many users may just like to enable the boot sound feature for customization purpose too.
You will need an iPhone 14 series or better to have this feature available, including iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, or iPhone 14 Plus, or newer.
How to Enable Sound Effects for Turning On & Off iPhone
Again, only iPhone 14 series and newer iPhone models will have this feature available to them:
- Open the Settings app
- Go to “Accessibility”
- Choose “Hearing”
- Toggle the switch for “Turn On & Off Sounds” to the enabled position
Now when you power on or off the iPhone, you will hear a sound effect.
If you do not have an iPhone 14 series or better, or you’re just curious what the sound effect is, the embedded Tweet below has a short clip with the sound effect playing for shutting down the iPhone.
This sound effect will play whether you shut down the iPhone through the button pressing methods, or by shutting down the iPhone through Settings as well.

What do you think of the power on and off sounds? Do you wish these were available on all iPhone models?
On my phone the path is this…

On my phone (iPhone 14 Pro) with iOS 16.2 the setting is found at:
