MacOS Tahoe beta 7 is available to download now

Apple has released MacOS Tahoe 26 beta 7 to users participating in the developer beta testing program, and the same build has been released as MacOS Tahoe public beta 4 as well. The beta release schedule is accelerating as the OS 26 operating systems are finalizing towards their inevitable fall release timeline.

The primary major new feature in MacOS Tahoe 26 is the introduction of the new shinier and more translucent Liquid Glass interface appearance, but there are also new wallpapers, new icon customization options, a new mundane Macintosh HD icon, clipboard history in Spotlight, the removal of Launchpad as it’s squished into Spotlight too, Live Activities from iPhone display on Mac, Journal app arrives on Mac, Phone app arrives on Mac, Messages app gains backgrounds and group chat polling, and more.

Separately, Apple has also released iOS 26 beta 7, iPadOS 26 beta 7 watchOS 26 beta 7, tvOS 26 beta 7, and visionOS 26 beta 7. Each developer build is also accompanied by the same build available for public beta testers as public beta 4.

Any MacOS Tahoe compatible Mac can install the MacOS Tahoe 26 beta now to run full time, or a safer way to test out the new OS is to install MacOS Tahoe 26 beta in a UTM virtual machine (or Parallels, VirtualBuddy, tart, or your VM manager of choice). Just remember that beta system software is buggier and less stable than final versions, and is generally only appropriate for advanced users. Running the beta within a self-contained virtual machine offers the safest way to test out MacOS Tahoe 26 beta.

Apple has said the final version of MacOS Tahoe 26 will arrive this fall.
