Betas

Apple has released the first beta versions of iOS 26.6, MacOS Tahoe 26.6, and iPadOS 26.6. These new betas are available for users in the beta testing program to access now on any eligible enrolled device. No major new features or changes are expected.

With WWDC 2026 just around the corner, it’s likely that Apple is putting most of their operating system development efforts into iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and MacOS 27, and thus the 26.6 versions are likely to be focused on bug fixes and security patches.

The latest stable builds of system software are currently MacOS Tahoe 26.5, iOS 26.5, and iPadOS 26.5.

How to Download iOS 26.6 Beta / iPadOS 26.6 Beta

For iPhone and iPad devices that are enrolled within the beta testing programs:

  2. Go to “General” and then go to “Software Update”
  3. Choose to download and install the latest iOS 26.6 beta / iPadOS 26.6 beta

How to Download MacOS Tahoe 26.6 Beta

For a Mac enrolled in the beta testing program:

  1. From the  Apple menu, go to “System Settings”
  2. Go to “General” and then go to “Software Update”
  3. Choose to update to MacOS Tahoe 26.6 beta

Beta versions of system software are typically only for advanced users and developers who test for compatibility, but betas can also offer insight into when new versions of system software are set to be available, as well as what changes, features, and bugs might be addressed.

Apple is gearing up for WWDC 2026 on June 8, which will unveil the next major versions of Apple system software, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and MacOS 27, and developers will gain beta access to those versions around that week as well.
