Mac Performance Monitor Helps You Watch & Diagnose Resource Usage

If you’re the type of Mac user who likes to keep track of your system performance and system resource usage and management, an intriguing and full-featured app called Mac Performance Monitor might be for you. As you might have guessed from the name, Mac Performance Monitor lets you see a dashboard, history, and breakdown of what your Mac is doing, allowing you to monitor system resources and usage like CPU, memory / swap, GPU, network activity, disk usage, battery, temperature and sensor readings, as well as processes that are impacting each of these.
What’s particularly neat about Mac Performance Monitor is that you can not only see what’s going on right now, but you can use the history recording feature to go back to whenever either a system slowdown or resource usage spike began, and figure out what caused it. This makes Mac Performance Monitor particularly handy for diagnostics and system resource management.
The app is free and open source, and it does not attempt to transmit data outside your Mac.
Mac Performance Monitor includes a live dashboard with a resource usage breakdown, and a really handy Insights screen that informs the user of trends and potentially actionable behaviors. You’ll also find a variety of live menu bar options, if you like to get a quick look at system and resource usage in the menu bar of your Mac.

There are a variety of other apps and tools like this out there for Mac, including the native powerful Activity Monitor app, but many of them like btop are only available at the command line, or aren’t particularly user friendly. Mac Performance Monitor has advanced features but is presented in a friendly interface, offering another option for resource monitoring and system management for MacOS, and is well worth checking out for users interested in this kind of thing.
