The RAM comes with a lifetime warranty from Corsair, but after you install the upgrade don’t forget to run a RAM test to check for any problems or defects.
I just purchased this for my 2011 MBP 13″ i5, from other users they say that this crashes. Keeping my fingers crossed. I don’t know if I should cancel my other and save myself the headache. Can anyone confirm this works on my model. TIA
Yes, it works on the 2011 MBP i5, just be sure to run memtest when you install it and make sure you don’t have a defective module.
Memory should come around next week as Im not located in the US. I will run memtest and post my results here.
RAM arrived today, installed it and now running memtest.
Just installed this upgrade in my 2011 15″ MBP manufactured in late April, or early May. Running OSX Lion. Ran the memtest. Passed every test. So far it seems stable. No kernel panics. No freezing. Seems to be working well for me.
I bought it for my 2011 17″ MacBook Pro. Big mistake. I got 4 kernel panics in 15 minutes and the RAM was extremely hot. It seems the harder you work the RAM, the quicker it would fail. I fired up HandBrake and was able to crash my machine in less than 10 minutes and by that point it was so unstable that it crashed repeatedly while trying to boot.
I put the stock RAM back and my machine is stable again. Anyone had any luck with RAM on this kind of computer?
So frustrated right now. I bought this for my brother’s 13″ Aluminum Macbook Pro and it didn’t even work. Kept having random kernel panics and I eventually had to swap back in the RAM that came preinstalled. I had the same exact situation Jbone, really pissed off.
I’m having the same issue here. Macbook pro 17″ 2011 OS X Lion. But I’m trying with just 1 x 4 Gb Corsair and it works fine, no panic so far. Is it possible Lion does not really support 8Gb memory?
I have similar problems. With the Crosaire 2x4GB I get BSOD on Windows 7 very quick. With only 1 x 4GB Crosaire it takes longer. I’m not sure if I just got faulty RAM or if Crosaire doesn’t work with the MBP 2011?

can anyone explain me why is the 1st unibody macbook (early 2009) does not support more than 4gb of ram? :(

You can use 6GB. But you shoult test 2x 4GB. Some MB runs with 8GB.

Well, the 2010 MBP have:
4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB
The above should be compatible, but it would run at 1066MHz, as far as I know. Somebody should confirm that.
The RAM offered above has CL 9, the MBP 2010 had CL 7 as fare as I know. Now it depends on the motherboard of the MBP if it can handel “slower” memory. I would just recommend buying the exact same memory as currently in your MB, just larger.

I love my 8GB of RAM on my MBP. I never heard of Corsair before, though. Are the reputable?
I got the Kingston 8GB for about $90 I believe. Still waiting on that SSD but it’ll be sweet when I can swing it.
