Java for Mac OS X Lion Update 1

Apple has pushed out a Java update for Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.6 users, the download weighs in between 65-75 MB and includes a variety of performance enhancements, bug fixes, and security updates. No reboot is required for installing the update.

You can grab the update from the  Apple menu’s “Software Update” or through a direct download from Apple’s servers. The direct download links below are for the Java update for both Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.6 in .dmg format:

The Java update is recommended for all Mac users.

  1. How can I uninstall the Mountain Lyon Update so I can have Java?

    one thing that happened after this update was that Apple site videos would not play, alleging a missing plug-in. I remembered this happening before and the cure then was to disable the 2 DivX extensions in Safari (preferences>extensions). This solved the issue today as well although I cannot explain it

    Pls make a backup before installing this.I didnt ang regretted the udpate. my SL 2010 macbook pro used to start up after 35 secs now it takes >1min after the update. Beaware !
