OS X 10.10.4 Beta 1 Available for Mac Developers

Apr 16, 2015 - 7 Comments

OS X Yosemite Apple has released the first beta version of OS X 10.10.4 to those registered with the Mac Developer program.

Few specifics are offered in the release notes for build 14E7f, simply stating that 10.10.4 “improves the stability, compatibility, and security” of a Mac.

OS X Update Seed 10.10.4 is available to download through the Mac App Store for eligible developers, a code can also be redeemed from the Mac Developer website. The update is about 900MB and requires a reboot to install.

OS X 10.10.4 Beta 1

OS X Public Beta users currently do not have access to OS X 10.10.4 beta 1, though it’s certainly possible that will change, and presumably OS X 10.10.4 will be opened up to the larger public beta program at some point.

As usual with beta versions of OS X, you should always back up the Mac beforehand and consider installing on a separate partition if not a machine that is intended for beta testing.

Separately, for iOS developers, iOS 8.4 beta 1 is also available.

The most recent available public version of Mac system software remains OS X 10.10.3, though a small supplemental update to OS X 10.10.3 was also just released to address some potential issues with certain software configurations.

This reminds me of the early days of OS X. Every release was supposed to be the one that fixed everything and yet it was garbage until 10.4. Snow Leopard is the last stable Mac OS and, I believe, the last real Mac operating system. Old Tim is determined to turn Macs into desktop iPhones, since he is obviously not a Mac guy. That’s the main reason that older systems get no support from Apple. He wants to force people to buy new iMac-phones. I dread the time when Apple starts forcing Mac users to run IOS on their machines – new ones only of course.

Not supporting older systems?! Macbook White Mid-2009 here. running Yosemite 10.10.3! had upgraded my RAM to 4GB and swapped HDD for a samsung evo 120GB SSD! Runs buttery smooth! ha!

My WiFi issues do appear improved. I’m going from sleep to connected in a few seconds now. Reminiscent of Mavericks.

I’ll be impressed if they ever fix the damned wifi issues. Even with the latest updates, it will sometimes not connect after wake-up unless I shut it off and turn it back on. I never had this issue prior to Yosemite.

Same problem here, except that it seems to only happen in certain places (my office at Arizona State), and it started with 10.10.2.

After months of wifi problems on Yosemite I finally got them fixed. I posted a comment with a link here a few days ago, it didn’t pass the moderation…??

Search on Google for “OSX wifi kext”, the first hit will lead you to a “Kext fix”.

This has definitely solved the wifi/bluetooth problems for me.

I genuinely hope the focus for OS X 10.10.4 is performance performance performance, but I’m a little concerned with 10.11 just around the corner again…
