Whether you’re a frequent traveler, simply learning a new language, or interacting with someone who speaks in a different language, Siri for iOS now has the fantastic ability to translate between languages on the fly. For example, you can ask Siri to say “I need a taxi ride to the airport” in French, and Siri will not only instantly translate that for you in written text, but also say it aloud.

Essentially you can think of of Siri on iPhone or iPad as a digital translator that is always with you, and it works to translate between English, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.

Apple has released iOS 11.1.1 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, a minor point release update with bug fixes. The update is recommended for all users running a prior version of iOS 11.

Notably, the iOS 11.1.1 software update aims to fix the prolific and annoying bug which causes the “i” character to be replaced with a question mark box. Have you been trying to type “i” but it’s replacing itself with “A [?]” constantly on your iPhone or iPad? This is because iOS 11.1 introduced a curious bug for many iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users that causes the letter “i” to autocorrect to the letter “A” usually followed by a square symbol with a question mark in it, looking something like this: “A [?]”

Apple is aware of this curious bug and will apparently offer a bug fix software update to resolve the problem. But in the meantime, Apple also offers a workaround solution using the text replacement feature of iOS.

Do Not Disturb While Driving is an iPhone specific safety feature available in modern iOS releases. As the name implies, when Do Not Disturb While Driving is activated on iPhone, no calls, messages, notifications, or alerts will come through to the iPhone, much like when the general Do Not Disturb mode feature is enabled. You can even enable automated replies to incoming messages, informing the sender you are driving and will contact them again when you’re done.
