Beta 3 of MacOS Monterey 12.1, iOS 15.2, iPadOS 15.2 Released for Testing
Apple has released the third beta versions of macOS Monterey 12.1, iPadOS 15.2, and iOS 15.2 to users who are participating in the beta testing programs of Apple operating system software.
The latest betas arrive first to developers, and are typically followed by the same build for public beta testers.
MacOS Monterey 12.1 beta 3 continues work on bug fixes to hopefully resolve issues with MacOS Monterey, along with including new features like SharePlay for screen sharing and video sharing within FaceTime, improvements to Hide My Email, and more. The highly anticipated Universal Control feature, which allows using a single mouse and keyboard across multiple Macs and iPads, is not yet available.
The latest MacOS Monterey 12.1 beta 3 build is available via Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update.
iOS 15.2 beta 3 and iPadOS 15.2 beta 3 also work on bug fixes, and include a few minor new features like the ability to set a Legacy Contact in the event of death, an App Privacy Report to show what data apps can access and share, an ability to scan for nearby AirTags, more options for Hide My Email, and a set of child safety features for iMessage. It remains uncertain if certain controversial surveillance features will appear in iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2.
The latest iOS and iPadOS 15.2 beta 3 builds can be downloaded now from Settings > General > Software Update.
For Apple Watch and Apple TV beta testers, there are also new beta builds available for those devices, including watchOS 8.3 beta 3 and tvOS 15.2 beta 3. Those beta updates can be downloaded through those devices respective settings apps.
Apple typically does through a handful of beta builds before a final version is released to the general public. Therefore it’s reasonable to expect the final builds of iOS 15.2, macOS 12.1, iPadOS 15.2 are still some weeks away.
For non-beta testers, the latest system software versions available are currently iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, and macOS Monterey 12.0.1.
fingers crossed that they fix both the USB hub problem which they passed on from Bug Sur and the iMessages not being delivered problem which is driving me mad…
