MacOS 27 Golden Gate Beta 8 Now Available to Download for Testing
Apple has issued the 8th beta version of MacOS 27 Golden Gate to users participating in the developer beta testing program. Typically the matching build arrives as a public beta soon after, so if you’re on that beta track keep an eye out for an update soon too.
MacOS 27 Golden Gate is nearing completion, with an assumed release date sometime in September. MacOS 27 Golden Gate has a heavy emphasis on performance and system improvements, where you’ll find improved Spotlight search, Mail search, system search, and more. You’ll also find new adjustments and tweaks to the Liquid Glass interface including a slider to control the intensity of the transparent effects. There are new features as well, including new Siri AI capabilities, and a dedicated Siri app which is sort of like a chatbot.
Any user can jump ahead into the OS if they feel like it by installing MacOS 27 Golden Gate beta onto their Mac if they’re comfortable with the beta experience. I personally went all in on the MacOS 27 beta and it has been a mostly positive experience for me, but every user is different.
Aside from MacOS 27, Apple has also released iOS 27 beta 8, iPadOS 27 beta 8, watchOS 27 beta 8, and tvOS 27 beta 8.
How to Update to MacOS 27 Golden Gate Beta 8
Always backup your Mac primary to updating:
- From the  Apple menu, go to “System Settings”
- Choose “General” and then “Software Update”
- Select to “Update Now” to install MacOS 27 Golden Gate beta 8
You will have to restart the Mac to finish installation.
If you are not running the MacOS 27 beta you will not find the latest beta build available.

The final version of MacOS 27 Golden Gate will be released this fall, according to Apple. You will need a MacOS 27 Golden Gate compatible Mac, which is basically any Mac with Apple Silicon.
