iPadOS 17 Release Date Set for September 18

iPadOS 17 will be released on Monday, September 18, according to Apple. The latest version of iPad system software will be a free software update, available through the typical software update channels.

iPadOS 17 Features

iPadOS 17 includes some notable new features for iPad users, including the ability to customize their Lock Screen with widgets and custom clock fonts (a feature that has been available on iPhone for over a year), interactive Home Screen widgets, Safari Profiles support, improved multitasking capabilities in Stage Manager, FaceTime Video Voicemail support, the inclusion of the Health app for iPad, along with many other smaller improvements and changes throughout the iPad operating system.

iPadOS 17 Compatibility

iPadOS 17 is compatible with iPad Pro 12.9″ second generation and newer, iPad Pro 11″, iPad Pro 10.5″, iPad Air 3rd gen and newer, iPad 6th gen and newer, and iPad mini 5th gen and newer. You’ll notice the first gen of iPad Pro 12.9″ and iPad Pro 9.7″ are not compatible with iPadOS 17.

Updating to iPadOS 17

Installing the iPadOS 17 update onto your iPad should be familiar to all iPad users, because it’s the same process as updating iOS or iPadOS on any other device. When ipadOS 17 is available, you can find it download in the Settings app > General > Software Update.

How can I install iPadOS 17 final version if I’m running iPadOS 17 beta?

All users who are actively running iPadOS 17 betas will be able to update directly to the final version of iPadOS 17, when it becomes available.

Once updating is complete, you’ll likely want to opt the iPad out of future beta updates.

    I would like to control and update my Apple Watch with my iPad, as I don’t have an iPhone. Just watch service only through Verizon. I have to use my wife’s iPhone to do this.
