MacOS Sonoma 14.5 Update Released with Security Fixes
Apple has released MacOS Sonoma 14.5 for Mac users running the Sonoma operating system. The MacOS 14.5 update includes bug fixes, security enhancements, and some changes and improvements to add various word games to the paid Apple News+ service.
Mac users running earlier versions of system software will find MacOS Ventura 13.6.7 and MacOS Monterey 12.7.5 available as security updates.
Separately, Apple has also released the final versions of iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5, iOS 16.7.8, iPadOS 16.7.8, watchOS 10.5, and tvOS 17.5.
How to Download & Install MacOS Sonoma 14.5 Update
Be sure you backup the Mac with Time Machine prior to starting any software update.
- Go to the Apple menu
- Select “System Settings”
- Choose “General”
- Select “Software Update”
- Select to “Update Now” for MacOS Sonoma 14.5 to download and install the update to the Mac
The download for MacOS Sonoma 14.5 is about 2.5 GB, and requires the Mac to restart.
Mac users running Monterey or Ventura will find software updates for those versions available instead.

You can also download the package installer directly from Apple. This can be useful for making a bootable Sonoma USB installer, for installing onto multiple Macs without having to download repeatedly, and for archive purposes.

You can also download an IPSW file for macOS SOnoma 14.5, which may be useful for restoring an Apple Silicon Mac, or for installing macOS Sonoma into a virtual machine using free software like UTM.

I am running 14.3 Sonoma on an M1 mini and a 2014 Mac mini and there are no issues at all with it
I think that I will play and wait and see on these updates.
