iPadOS 14 Release Date

If you’re the kind of person who stays updated on the latest and greatest in tech, you’re probably already aware that Apple announced iPadOS 14 at their all-online WWDC 2020 event. What you may not know is when exactly Apple is going to start rolling out the iPadOS 14 software update to all supported iPad models.

If you own an iPad yourself maybe as a personal tablet or perhaps as a laptop replacement, you might be curious to know how and when you can get your hands on the upcoming iteration of iPadOS. There’s also a fair chance that you’re patiently waiting for the beta version to get a sneak peek before the final release.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the release dates for the final version which will be available to the general public, as well as the developer beta and public beta builds of iPadOS 14.

What is the iPadOS 14 Release Date for Final Versions?

Before you get your hopes up, we’d to like inform you that we’re at least a couple of months away from the final release of iPadOS 14. More importantly, if you check out Apple’s iPadOS 14 preview webpage, they don’t give you an exact release date. Rather, we get a fall release timeframe.

If prior years are taken into consideration, Apple releases final versions of iOS and iPadOS shortly after the iPhone announcement which usually takes place in September, but sometimes in October and possibly even in November. Therefore, we can expect the upcoming iPadOS 14 update to be rolled out in the same month.

We will keep you posted as we get an official confirmation from Apple, but as of now, we just know that iPadOS 14 is coming this fall and will be available for compatible iPad models. Therefore, you’re not going to get your hands on it anytime soon unless you’re willing to try out the beta versions.

iPadOS 14 Developer Beta Release is Available Now

Apple seeded the developer beta of iPadOS 14 on the same day as the WWDC 2020 Keynote where they showcased the software. However, only developers who’re part of the Apple Developer Program are eligible to try out this early build.

Are you a registered Apple Developer yourself? If so, feel free to get experimental and try out the iPadOS Developer Beta 1 on your iPad right now. If not, you can enroll in the Apple Developer Program by paying $99/year which allows you to publish your own apps in the App Store in addition to getting access to early developer beta builds.

Don’t want to spend a hundred dollars to try out the iPadOS Developer Beta? Well, you’re certainly not alone, but you can technically install the developer profile from third-party sources on to your device and get beta updates directly from Apple – while that’s possible it’s not really recommended. A better approach is to wait for the public beta release.

iPadOS 14 Public Beta Release Date

Apple has a good track record of releasing the public beta builds of iOS & iPadOS just a few weeks after the developer beta release. However, if you check Apple’s website, there’s no mention of a specific date. For now, all we know officially is that the public beta is coming soon, and that during the WWDC keynote they mentioned the public betas would start in July.

Last year, the iOS 13/iPadOS 13 public beta was rolled out three weeks after the release of the developer preview. Considering the developer beta was released in the fourth week of June this year, we can realistically expect the iPadOS 14 public beta to be available sometime in July, as Apple mentioned.

iPadOS 14 Release Date

Just like the developer beta, not all iPads get public beta software updates from Apple. You’ll need to be an Apple Beta Software Program participant first before you’re able to download the public beta of iPadOS 14 when it releases. Therefore, if you don’t have the patience to wait till September for the final release, consider enrolling your device in the Public Beta Program.

Enrolling in the Public Beta Software Program is free of charge, unlike the Developer Program. Plus, enrolling your iPad in the Apple Public Beta Software Program also gives you access to beta versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS, so if you own multiple Apple devices, this is a one-step procedure to access multiple beta builds that Apple has to offer. As long as you’re brave enough to run beta system software anyway.

Keep in mind that beta versions are early development builds and could suffer from bugs and stability issues, hence we don’t recommend you install them on your primary device.

Now that you have an idea of the iPadOS 14 release schedule for the final and beta versions, are you looking forward to trying out the public beta when it comes out? Or, have you already installed the developer beta by any chance? Share any thoughts you have in the comments section!

I didn’t see any feature that really peaked my interest with iPad OS 14 or IOS 14. I do hope Apple irons out some of the nagging issues with IOS 13. Maybe this will be a more stable release?

There is iOS, iPadOS and MacOS. You guys have wasted your time and ours writing three different articles about the release dates of these three systems with exactly the same conclusion… we don’t know when, but we think.

Save yourselves the time and do it in one article. I read this article just in case there was some new news, but no, I was screwed with a repeat of the previous articles.
