Beta 6 of macOS Monterey Released for Testing
Apple has released the sixth beta version of macOS Monterey for users involved in the testing programs. The sixth beta release comes three weeks after the fifth beta, and is now only one version behind beta 7 of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15.
MacOS Monterey has various new features for the Mac, including Facetime screen sharing, Facetime grid view for group chats, changes to Safari tabs and Safari interface, Live Text for text selection in images, Universal Control for using a mouse and keyboard across a Mac and iPad, Quick Notes for apps, Low Power Mode for Mac laptops, Shortcuts app for Mac, and a variety of changes to various apps like Photos, Music, Messages, Maps, and more.
How to Download & Install MacOS Monterey Beta 6
If you’re enrolled in the beta testing program for macOS, be sure to back up the Mac with Time Machine before installing the latest beta update.
- Go to Apple menu and choose “System Preferences”
- Select the “Software Update” preference panel
- Choose to download and install macOS Monterey beta 6
The Mac will require rebooting to complete the software update.
Beta system software is intended for advanced users, but anyone can install the macOS Monterey public beta if they’re interested in doing so. All that is required is a Monterey compatible Mac and a willingness to tolerate a less stable and buggier operating system experience.
Currently, macOS Big Sur 11.5.2 is the latest final stable version of macOS available.
MacOS Monterey is expected to be released this fall.
