NeXTSTEP 4.0 running in a web browser

If you’ve been a reader of OSXDaily for a while you almost certainly have seen us mention some of the fun web apps that allow you to run full fledged versions of operating systems in your web browser, from Mac OS 9, Mac OS 8, or Mac OS 7, to even Windows 1.0.

Many of the Classic Mac OS side of things have been the work of the Infinite Mac project, and now Infinite Mac has revamped their homepage to make it easier than ever to run many different classic versions of Mac OS or NeXTSTEP directly in your web browser.

You can also jump directly to particular emulators, like System 7.6 or NeXTSTEP 4.0.

As long as you have a modern device you should be able to run these web-based emulators of classic Mac OS and NeXTSTEP just fine, whether you’re on a Mac, iPad, Windows PC, or Linux machine.

We’re big fans of retro computing around here and Infinite Mac is a very fun project that allows retro computing fans to easily indulge, so if you’re curious about running some classic old Mac OS versions or exploring NeXTSTEP (the prequel to Mac OS X, and thus modern macOS, iOS, and iPadOS), then check them out and have some fun.
