RC Builds of MacOS Tahoe 26.6, iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6 Available for Testers
The Release Candidate builds of MacOS Tahoe 26.6, iOS 26.6, and iPadOS 26.6, are now available for those engaged in beta testing for current generation versions of Apple system software. There are also RC builds for MacOS Sequoia 15.7.8 and MacOS Sonoma 14.8.8, though it’s hard to imagine many people aside from some devs are beta testing those versions at the moment.
The RC builds of iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 mention they prepare for iOS 27 by optimizing Spotlight, something that many iOS 27 beta testers have noticed can take several days to complete with a message in Settings app stating the device is “Optimizing Search and Siri”. Otherwise, it’s assumed that the OS 26.6 updates will focus mostly on bug fixes and security patches.
With the RC builds being issued, it’s reasonable to assume the final versions of iOS 26.6, MacOS Tahoe 26.6, and iPadOS 26.6, should debut sometime in the near future, perhaps by the end of this week or next.

For iPhone and iPad beta users currently on the iOS/iPadOS 26 betas you can find the RC builds as follows:
- Open the “Settings” app
- Go to “General”, and then go to “Software Update”
- Choose to download and install iOS 26.6 RC / iPadOS 26.6 RC
How to Download MacOS Tahoe 26.6 RC
For Mac beta users currently running a macOS Tahoe 26 beta:
- From the  Apple menu, go to “System Settings”
- Go to “General” and then “Software Update”
- Choose to update to MacOS Tahoe 26.6 RC
If you’re currently on the OS 27 betas, including MacOS 27 Golden Gate beta, iOS 27 beta, and iPadOS 27 beta, then you will not find these OS 26.6 betas available to you.
RC, which stands for Release Candidate, usually marks the end of a beta cycle, absent any major bugs or problems. Once RC builds are made available, like these, it’s often that final versions are made available to the general public soon after.
