“Hello Again” Apple Event Set for October 27, New Macs Expected
Apple has scheduled a press event for October 27. The event is titled “hello again” and presumed focus will be on the introduction of new Macs.
Anyone will be able to watch the “hello again” event live on Thursday, October 27 at 10 AM PST at Apple’s Special Events website here. Viewing the keynote lifestream event requires Safari on the Mac, iPhone, or iPad, or Microsoft Edge on a PC.
The tagline of the keynote, “hello again”, is a direct reference to the Mac. The first Macintosh debuted with “hello” written on its screen in 1984, and “hello (again”) appeared on the screen of the iMac when it first debuted in 1998.
There are a wide variety of rumors surrounding new Macs, but according to a prior report from Bloomberg the three Mac models receiving updates are the iMac, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. The iMac and MacBook Air are said to be receiving general updates to hardware components, like a new graphics card or the inclusion of USB-C ports.
The MacBook Pro is expected to include a more dramatic makeover, with an redesigned enclosure that is thinner, and the removal of most port options replacing them multiple USB-C ports, and an all new keyboard. Additionally, the new MacBook Pro is said to have a thin strip display at the top of the keyboard which will include interactive touch buttons that can update depending on the application in use.
It’s unclear if the MacBook, Mac Mini, or Mac Pro will receive any updates or changes at the event. There have also been mixed rumors about a new 5K external display with a built in GPU being offered, though it remains to be seen if such a display is anything more than a rumor.

It would be nice to see Nvidia or ATI graphics. Otherwise I have no interest. Some things just don’t do well or at all with Intel graphics chips.
I’m sure Apple will not fail to disappoint many of us…
Finally.
I hope I don’t make the mistake of waiting for an iMac that’s inferior to its predecessor, which I have been “eyeing up” for a while now. Why? Because I expect Thunderbolt support–either TB2 or TB3 as part of USB 3.1 Gen 2.
From the rumors it sounds like Apple is killing off every port except for USB-C, so we’ll all need a million dongles to use anything. This is there “pro” hardware too :( I hope the iMac and 15″ MacBook Pro continue to have real ports, HDMI, USB, etc.
Microsoft’s new Surface line looks like its going to own Mac for at least three development cycles. Testing Win 10 has already impressed me on a very old HP laptop; so much faster than El Cap on my pretty damn new MacBook Pro.
If tomorrow does not blow me away I’m making the switch this Saturday. I don’t believe Apple’s heart is really committed to developing Mac much.
