If you use the Tags feature to tag files and folders on the Mac you may find it helpful to know that you can edit and rename tags to be more descriptive or to better suit your purposes for those tags.

For example, perhaps you want to rename some tags to be used as indicator of priority, so rather than having a tag simply named “Red” or “Blue” you could rename those tags to be “Urgent” and “Low Priority”. Or perhaps you’d like tags named something like “Personal”, “Family”, and “Work”, or to be project specific, or anything of that sort. Renaming tags on the Mac is easy, as you’ll see.

If you’re an iPhone or iPad user with a Spotify account and you happen to be visiting another location with Sonos Speakers, you might be interested in outputting the sound output from the iOS device to the Sonos speaker system. Usually Sonos speakers rely on the dedicated Sonos app to interface with, but that’s not always necessary, and if you have an iPhone or iPad and you’re a guest at a location with a configured Sonos speaker, you can typically export Spotify audio to the Sonos speaker without needing to login to anything or download the Sonos app at all. Essentially this lets you use Spotify with AirPlay outputting sound directly to a Sonos speaker as a guest.

Some Mac users may be aiming to turn off FaceTime because they have noticed the app launches itself automatically. Some have even noticed that FaceTime opens itself automatically on boot when the computer restarts or on system startup.

The iPad has a beautiful screen, there’s no doubt about that, but once you’ve handled it for a while you might notice the screen gets dirty. Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 to users who are enrolled in the iPhone and iPad beta testing programs.

The issuing of a first point release beta could suggest that development of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 has finished already (with the last version being iOS 13 beta 8), and thus Apple may be moving forward with beta testing the next scheduled release version. Apple has released iOS 12.4.1 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The latest software update for iOS includes security fixes and is therefore recommended for all users to install on their devices.

Apple has released another new supplemental update to macOS Mojave 10.14.6. The supplemental software update includes bug fixes, security enhancements, and performance improvements, and is therefore recommended for all Mac users running MacOS Mojave to install. The new supplemental update will bring macOS 10.14.6 to build 18G95.

Specifically, the new supplemental update aims to fix an issue where some Mac laptops would shut down during sleep mode, and it also resolves a performance issue when dealing with large files. Additionally, an issue that prevented Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iMovie, and Garageband from updating has been resolved. The full release notes are included further below for those interested.
