Content blockers may break captive portal wi-fi login pages

Here’s a helpful bit of knowledge that you may want to keep in mind when traveling or using public wi-fi spaces; if you use Content Blockers in Safari or your web browser, that content blocker may break a wi-fi’s captive portal login page, thereby preventing you from joining that particular wireless network. This applies to content blockers on any web browser and any Apple operating system, whether it’s a Mac, iPhone, iPad, or otherwise (and Windows too of course, but that’s not our focus here).

Uber

Uber and Uber Eats are undeniably useful apps, allowing you to get a ride or have food delivered quickly and conveniently, right from your iPhone (or Android) either from the app or even from Siri. Messages Using High CPU on Mac, Slowing Performance: 6 Troubleshooting Tips

Nov 2, 2023 - 2 Comments

Messages app using high CPU slowing the Mac

If your Mac feels excessively slow at random, or unreasonably slow for seemingly no apparent reason, you may want to check to see if the Messages app is open, as the Messages app for Mac has been known to use heavy amounts of processor and system resources. We’re going to cover common reasons why Messages can slow down a Mac and lead to high CPU usage, as well as cover some solutions, and troubleshooting tips.
