iOS 4.3.1 Download is Available Now

Mar 25, 2011 - 36 Comments

ios-4-3-1-ipsw Apple has released iOS 4.3.1 update for users of iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 GSM, iPad, iPad 2, iPod touch 3rd gen and 4th gen. The update consists mostly of bug fixes, here are the release notes and changelog:

iOS 4.3.1 Software Update

This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

• Fixes an occasional graphics glitch on iPod touch (4th generation)
• Resolves bugs related to activating and connecting to some cellular networks
• Fixes image flicker when using Apple Digital AV Adapter with some TVs
• Resolves an issue authenticating with some enterprise web services

If iTunes doesn’t automatically notify you, you can download iOS 4.3.1 by attaching your iOS device to iTunes and then checking for software updates within the app. If you’d rather download iOS 4.3.1 IPSW directly, you can do that too using the links below.

iOS 4.3.1 Direct Download

These are direct download links of iOS 4.3.1 IPSW files from Apple. Right-click and “Save As” to download:

Noticeably absent is iOS 4.3.1 for iPhone 4 CDMA. Regarding iPad 2,2 and 2,3, if you own one of those devices and you are directly downloading IPSW, you probably know what you’re doing and know which is for Verizon and which is for AT&T, but I don’t have access to that hardware to confirm either at the moment.

Note for those on Windows: these are .IPSW files, if your browser is saving them as .zip or any other archive, you need to rename the file to .ipsw for iTunes to be able to use the firmware. This is not an issue that affects Mac OS X users.

My download stops always stops at like 10.0MB and I have to restart it all the time. What should I do???? :(

  20. Dee says:

I was at 4.2.1 and got the iPod Touch 4G 4.3.1 update downloaded from this page as iTunes was taking sooo long to update my pod.

I’m using Windows so from iTunes, I pressed Shift + clicked on Update and then it looked like it began the process. Until the Apple logo came to view and then the “loading bar” beneath it started moving. Half way through, though, it stopped. Even iTunes’ Updating iPod Software bar stopped at a quarter inch to finish. I waited since Task Manager showed it was still running.. 2 hours and it was still there. ~_~ Didn’t even move a mm.

Pulled the plug and restarted my iPod *Home + sleep* and now it shows that it needs to be restored. I have synced my apps to iTunes so I’m like.. sure, why not just restore (erase) it and update it to 4.3.1. Did Shift + Restore this time and again, it looked like it was running.. until it reached halfway through the apple logo again and would just stay there.

    Please help.. T_T

    • Dave says:

On a mac: connect idevice, right click on “update” and hold the alt/option key down as well….brings up a window of what IPSW to select. Should do the trick.

    • Shankychan says:

Once you’ve downloaded the .IPSW file follow the procedure:

Copy the file to the respective directory:

      Windows XP
      —————-
      iPhone: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

      iPod touch: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

      iPad: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Software Updates

      Windows Vista/7
      ———————-
      iPhone: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

iPod touch: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

      iPad: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Software Updates

(If you don’t see the Application Data or AppData folders, you may need to show hidden files.)

      Mac OS X
      ————
      iPhone: ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates

      iPod touch: ~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates

      iPad: ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates

(The tilde “~” represents your Home directory.)

Run iTunes, select your device & click the update in the summary tab.

      • ramek says:

        thanks man you rock ;)

      • Jordy says:

Hey, works like a charm! Many thanks!

In case you don’t see the folder, it is defaulted as a hidden folder so you should configure your computer to see hidden folders first.

        Shankychan, kudos to you

      • kris says:

Unfortunately it doesn’t work for me, dude… I do exactly what you say, but when iTunes opens, it still offers to do the iOS 6.1.3 update… What do I do now??? Thanks in advance!!
