Turn iOS Maps into a Virtual Globe by Zooming Out
Have you ever wanted a globe in the palm of your hands? Well thanks to your iPhone or iPad you can have a little virtual world and digital globe, right in your hand!
Sometimes looking at a flat map view just isn’t what you’re looking for, but with Apple Maps you can now view the entire world map as a nice round globe too.
You’ll need to have Maps view set in either Hybrid or Satellite mode to be able to see the globe view, that can be done by tapping the page curl in the corner then selecting either one, then all you need to do is continuously pinch to zoom out until the globe view appears.
You can rotate it around in any direction you want, and if you get too disoriented just tap the compass icon to reorient north again.
Play the globe travel game, use it for help with geography homework, figure out how where things are in relation to each other, or just enjoy having the whole world in the palm of your hand.
It may not be the single most useful feature of iOS Maps but it’s fun to play around with and it beats having to download another app just to see the world in true form.
So the next time you have the song “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands” stuck in your head, you can sing that song aloud while also having a little world in your own hands, thanks to your iPhone or iPad!
This little secret Globe view is available on any iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone running iOS 6 or later with Apple Maps, that means it works on just about every device that is out there running iOS since most are running newer versions whether it’s above iOS 12, iOS 11, or iOS 10 nowadays.

Yeah, doesn’t work on iPhone 4, in any mode. It’s a very disappointing app in general, so this is not surprising.
brilliant but IOS Maps still cant find addresses in Fort Lauderdale . What a really crap mapping experience compared to Google .So Apple take your “out of this world” mapping system and get lost
just buy an android
Nope. Still not working on iPhone 4. Not even in hybrid or satellite mode.
This doesn’t work on my iPhone 4 running iOS 6.0.1…
Same here.
I got it working by putting on Hybrid view, didn’t work for me in the normal view
