Apple has released the fourth beta versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 to users enrolled in the iPhone and iPad system software beta testing programs. Typically the developer beta rolls out first and is soon followed by the same build for public beta testers.

iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 include various new features and improvements, including FaceTime screen sharing and a grid view of FaceTime participants, Focus feature for Do Not Disturb, redesigned Notifications, redesigned Safari tabs and tab grouping experience, Safari extensions, Live Text allowing for text selection within images, changes to Maps and Health app, changes to Photos and Music app, improvements to Spotlight, a redesigned Weather app for iPhone, and much more. iPadOS 15 also includes iPad specific features, like the ability to move widgets anywhere on the Home Screen, and some changes to how multitasking works.

Separately, new betas of MacOS Monterey beta 4, watchOS 8, and tvOS are also available.

How to Download iOS 15 Beta 4 / iPadOS 15 Beta 4

Be sure to backup your device before installing the beta updates.

  1. Open the “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad enrolled in the beta program
  2. Go “General” then choose “Software Update”
  3. Select to download and install iOS 15 beta 4 or iPadOS 15 beta 4 when it shows as available

A reboot is required to complete installation, as usual.

Availability of iOS 15 beta 4 and iPadOS 15 beta 4 is currently limited to developer beta testers. You can learn how to install iOS 15 developer beta and install iPadOS 15 developer beta if you are unfamiliar with that process. Most beta testers are likely running the public beta versions instead, however. If you’re curious, you can learn how to install public beta of iOS 15 on iPhone, or iPadOS 15 public beta on iPad.

You must have an iPhone compatible with iOS 15 or an iPad compatible with iPadOS 15 to be able to participate in the beta programs.

If you’re unhappy with the beta experience, you can always downgrade from iOS 15 beta / iPadOS 15 beta back to iOS 14, assuming you have a backup available from the earlier version.

iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 will launch to the public this fall.

Separately, Apple released new beta versions of MacOS Monterey 12 beta 4 for Mac beta testers, along with new betas for watchOS 8 and tvOS 15.
