New beta versions of system software were released by Apple today for users in the beta testing programs. This includes macOS Monterey beta 9, iOS 15.1 beta 3, iPadOS 15.1 beta 3, watchOS 8.1 beta 3, and tvOS 15.1 beta 3.

The new beta updates arrive as Apple continues to finalize macOS Monterey before its public release this fall. iOS/iPadOS 15.1 are expected sometime in the near future as well, as Apple usually goes through several beta versions before issuing a final release.

MacOS Monterey beta includes new Safari tab grouping features, a redesigned Safari appearance, Live Text to select and copy text within images, FaceTime grid view, FaceTime screen sharing with SharePlay, Quick Notes, Low Power Mode for Mac Laptops, Shortcuts on Mac, and various changes to Photos, Music, Podcasts, and other apps. The Universal Control feature which allows controlling a Mac and iPad with the same mouse and cursor is still not available in the beta versions, so it is unclear what the timeline is for that feature.

The latest macOS Monterey beta can be downloaded from  Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update.

iOS 15.1 beta 3 and iPadOS 15.1 beta 3 include new features for iPhone 13 Pro users allowing toggles for Macro Mode photography, the inclusion of FaceTime screen sharing, and support for importing a Covid-19 vaccine card pass into Health app. Presumably the betas also address some of the issues and problems with iOS 15.

The latest beta of iOS 15.1/iPadOS 15.1 is available via Settings > General > Software Update.
