Third Betas of iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, MacOS Ventura 13.4, Available for Testing
Apple has released new beta versions of system software to users enrolled in the beta testing programs. iOS 16.5 beta 3, iPadOS 16.5 beta 3, and MacOS Ventura 13.4 beta 3 are available now to users who are beta test participants.
No major features are expected in iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, or MacOS Ventura 13.4, suggesting the releases will focus on bug fixes and security enhancements.
Apple typically rolls out the beta versions to registered developers first with the same build soon followed for public beta testers.
iOS and iPadOS beta testers can get beta 3 of iOS/IpadOS 16.5 from Settings app > General > Software Update.
MacOS beta testers can find beta 3 of macOS 13.4 to download now from the Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update.
Additional betas are available for tvOS and watchOS, for users participating in those beta testing programs as well.
Apple usually goes through several beta versions before issuing a finalized version to the general public. With that in mind, it’s likely that iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, and MacOS Ventura 13.4 could be released in the month of May.
Apple is likely focusing most of their software development efforts on next generation operating systems, like iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and MacOS 14, which will debut in June at WWDC 2023.
The most recent stable final versions of system software are currently iOS 15.7.5 and iPadOS 15.7.5 for older iPhone and iPad models, iOS 16.4.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1 for newer iPhone and iPad devices, macOS Ventura 13.3.1 for Mac, MacOS Monterey 12.6.5, and MacOS Big Sur 11.7.6 for older Macs not running Ventura.
