iOS 16.7 and iPadOS 16.7 update

Apple has issued important security updates, versioned as iOS 16.7 and iPadOS 16.7 respectively, to iPhone and iPad users who have not yet updated to iOS/iPadOS 17, or are unable to update due to incompatibility.

The updates include important security fixes for issues that are known to be actively exploited, and Apple recommends all eligible users install these updates onto their devices. No new features are included in iOS 16.7 or iPadOS 16.7.

Separately, Apple has also released updates for iOS 17.0.1, iPadOS 17.0.1, MacOS Ventura 13.6, macOS Monterey 12.7, watchOS 10.0.1, and watchOS 9.6.3, with each of these software updates containing security fixes to the same flaws.

How to Download & Install iOS 16.7 / iPadOS 16.7

Before beginning any software update, backup your iPhone/iPad to iCloud, Finder, or a PC. Then, installing the update is easy.

  1. Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Go to “General”, and then go to “Software Update”
  3. Choose to “Download and Install” for iOS 16.7 / iPadOS 16.7

Note: If you are currently running iOS 17 or ipadOS 17, you will instead see iOS 17.0.1 and iPadOS 17.0.1.

Your iPhone or iPad will need to restart to complete installation.

Advanced users can also choose to update their devices by using IPSW files.
