New betas for iOS 17, macOS Sonoma 14, and iPadOS 17

Apple has released the third beta versions of iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3, and macOS Sonoma 14.3 to users participating in the beta testing programs. There’s also a new tvOS beta version for those interested in that.

iOS 17.3 includes an intriguing new feature called Stolen Device Protection which aims to make it harder for thieves to access your device after it has been stolen, even if they know your password. This works by requiring Face ID or Touch ID in addition to the passcode, before being able to do things like disable Find My or turn off Lost Mode, as well as access or change passwords.

macOS Sonoma 14.3 does not appear to include any new features, making the release likely to be focused on bug fixes and enhancements.

iPhone and iPad beta testers can download iOS 17.3 beta 3 and iPadOS 17.3 beta 3 through Settings > General > Software Update.

Mac beta testers can download macOS Sonoma 14.3 beta 3 from  Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update.

Beta system software typically goes through several versions before a final version is released to the broader public, which suggests the final version of these particular system software releases are still weeks away.

The latest stable builds of Apple system software are currently iOS 17.2.1 for iPhone, iPadOS 17.2.1 for iPad, and macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 for Mac.
