Beta 1 of macOS Sonoma 14.4 Available for Testing
Apple has released the first beta version of macOS Sonoma 14.4 to users enrolled in the beta testing programs for Mac system software.
The new MacOS beta arrives alongside new betas for WatchOS, and a few days after the first beta of iOS 17.4 debuted.
No major new features are expected in macOS Sonoma 14.4, but it’s assumed that new Emoji icons will be included in the system update since those arrived with iOS 17.4 beta, alongside a standard array of bug fixes and security enhancements.
Users who are actively enrolled in the macOS Sonoma beta testing programs can find the update for MacOS 14.4 beta 1 through System Settings > General > Software Update.
Apple goes through several versions of beta system software before issuing final versions to the public, suggesting we’re a little ways out from the finalized releases of Sonoma 14.4 and iOS 17.4.
The Apple rumor mill has been churning out speculation regarding the release of new Apple hardware in March, including an updated M3 MacBook Air, and updated iPad Air. It’s possible these updates will be bundled with those devices, if those hardware updates do indeed arrive at that timeline.
The latest available stable versions of system software are currently macOS Sonoma 14.3, macOS Ventura 13.6.4, macOS Monterey 12.7.3, iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3, iOS 16.7.5, iPadOS 16.7.5, and iOS/iPadOS 15.8.1.
