Redesigned MacBook Air with M2 Chip Announced
Apple has announced an all new redesigned MacBook Air with a faster M2 chip, along with a spec-bumped MacBook Pro 13″.
The new MacBook Air includes a 13.6″ display with a center notch, MagSafe charging, two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, a 1080p camera, and is available in four color options including midnight, starlight, space gray, and silver.
The M2 chip is available in 10-core and 8-core versions, with up to 2TB of SSD storage, and up to 24GB of RAM.
In many ways the redesigned MacBook Air looks like a shrunken MacBook Pro, and the computer is less than half an inch thick while weighing in at 2.7lbs.
Battery life is apparently the same, at up to 18 hours of usage.
The new MacBook Air starts at $1199, and begins shipping next month.
Separately, Apple updated the entry level MacBook Pro 13″ model to include the M2 chip as well, though that Mac did not get a redesigned enclosure.
