Get Real-Time Sport Scores & Live Stats with Apple Sports
Sports fans will be pleased to know that Apple has released an Apple Sports app for iPhone, which offers real-time score information, live stats, and betting odds.
Apple Sports intends to be fast, direct, and features a simple user interface that is not overengineered. Given some of the other sports apps out there with very busy interfaces and sluggish performance, Apple Sports could be a welcome addition to many iPhone users home screens. And if you were wondering, the app is not available for iPad or Mac, yet anyway, Apple Sports is iPhone exclusive.
When you first launch Apple Sports, you are asked to select your favorite teams.
But, if you’re a baseball or football fan, you won’t find your favorite teams available yet. That’s because neither the MLB (pro baseball), NFL (professional football), or NCAA (college football) are included in Apple Sports at launch. Apparently that’s because neither the NCAA, NFL, or MLB are in season at the moment, but it’s still a curious lapse (I want to see upcoming schedules!). The WNBA is also missing at launch. So for people like myself that only follow one of those leagues, or particular sports like football, your motivation to download and install Apple Sports may be lower at the moment, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a great app for you when those sports and leagues are added.
Team schedules and betting odds are displayed prominently:
The interface is good, though it’s a little quirky if you have an increased font size in use on your iPhone, as many people do.
If you’re a sports fan, check out Apple Sports, it’s free and seems like it will be a great app for keeping track of scores and seasons. According to Apple’s press release that launched the app, users can expect that NCAAF, NFL, MLB, and WNBA will be coming soon too.
