MacOS Tahoe 26.0.1 update is available

Apple has issued MacOS Tahoe 26.0.1 as a software update for Tahoe users. The update focuses primarly on resolving an issue for Mac Studio owners who were not able to install the initial MacOS Tahoe 26 release onto the M3 Ultra version of the Studio. Apparently other bug fixes and security improvements are included as well, though they are unspecified in the release notes.

Separately, Apple has also released macOS Sequoia 15.7.1, macOS Sonoma 14.8.1, iOS 26.0.1, iPadOS 26.0.1, iOS 18.7.1 and iPadOS 18.7.1, watchOS 26.0.2, tvOS 26.0.1, and visionOS 26.0.1.

How to Download & Install MacOS Tahoe 26.0.1 Update

Backup your Mac with Time Machine first, then installing the update is easy:

  1. From the  Apple menu go to “System Settings”
  2. Go to “General” and then go to “Software Update”
  3. Choose to “Update Now” for macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 to update your Mac

If you’re not yet running Tahoe, you will find macOS Sequoia 15.7.1 or macOS Sonoma 14.8.1 available instead, aside from the Tahoe 26.0.1 update.

Your computer has to restart to complete installation.

If you don’t have a Mac Studio M3 Ultra machine, this is probably not the most urgent software update to jump on, but we’ll keep an eye out for user reports about other useful bug fixes that could be included.
