Logitech Mouse or Keyboards Break on Mac After Expired Certificate, But it’s an Easy Fix

If you’re a Mac user who has recently discovered their Logitech mouse or keyboard is not working suddenly, or not working properly with missing customizations and functionality, it might be because of an issue with an expired security certificate with Logitech devices on the Mac.

Specifically, if you use Logi Options+ or G HUB with your Logitech mouse or keyboard on the Mac, then it is possible that your customizations, remapping, gestures, scroll behavior, and app specific profiles, may have stopped working. If this is the case, you’ll need to install a new version of the necessary Logitech software to correct the problem.

Critically, this does not affect all Logitech mouse and keyboard devices, or all Mac users of those devices. I personally use a Logitech mouse with my Mac and it was not impacted by this issue, but I do not use either of the Logi Options+ or G Hub gaming apps, and therefore my bluetooth mouse was not impacted.

Logitech has acknowledged the problem impacting many Mac users and has provided two updated versions of Logi Options+ and G HUB to fix the problem and restore an affected mouse or keyboard to functionality again. You can also use the direct download links below to retrieve the patched apps from Logitech CDN servers:

Compatibility is with MacOS Ventura 13, macOS Sonoma 14, MacOS Sequoia 15, and macOS Tahoe 26.

You must download and install the patched apps manually.

Logitech says your settings and customizations will not be lost, and the apps will work normally after installing the software.

So what happened? Logitech describes the root cause of the issue as follows:

The problem was caused by an expired certificate required for the apps to run. Because the certificate also affected the in‑app updater, you will need to manually download and install the updated version of the app.

If you were one of the Mac users who relies on their Logitech peripherals, and you found that your MX mouse or keyboard was not working as expected, you’ll want to go ahead and install those apps right away to resolve the issues you are experiencing with the device. If your Logitech keyboard or mouse is continuing to work without a problem, then you are obviously not impacted by this issue, nor are those who don’t use Logitech devices on their Macs.

  1. Andy Biltzan says:

On my iMac M3 I use a Logitech MX Anywhere 3S mouse, but I use it with the https://better-mouse.com software.

BM is less bloatware than Logi Options+, with more options for tracking speed and scrolling.

BM also works with many Logitech keyboards, but the configurable key actions can be more limited, depending.
