iOS 4.2 GM Download Available Now
The GM release of iOS 4.2 is now available to download through Apple’s Developer Program. GM stands for Golden Master, which generally means the software release is ready to ship. The iOS 4.2 update is hotly anticipated for iPad owners in particular, since it will bring multitasking abilities to the device. The update also installs on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and the 4th, 3rd, and 2nd generation iPod touches. Installing the iOS 4.2 update requires iTunes 10.1 as well.
If you’re an iOS developer, head on over to Apple’s iOS Developer Center to grab the iOS 4.2 GM build 8C134.
For those who aren’t developers, the wait to download and install iOS 4.2 is not going to be long. It’s expected that the newest version of iOS will be released to the public within a week or two, which would match the November release date that Apple scheduled earlier in the year.

GM is the same as final build, final build will come out next week.

you need iTunes 10.1 beta to install 4.2
to install just ‘Restore’ the iPhone with the newly downloaded 4.2 ipsw file
save your SH blobs if you think you’ll want to unlock in the future
redsn0w works to jailbreak 4.2 already

True, but Apple is soliciting apps for iOS 4.2, they didn’t do this with 4.1. This suggests we will see a delay of an additional week or two while they sort through and approve 4.2 ready apps.
