iOS 13.3.1 and iPadOS 13.3.1

Apple has released iOS 13.3.1 and iPadOS 13.3.1 for iPhone and iPad users. The release includes bug fixes, security improvements, and feature enhancements. The full release notes for the system software versions is available below.

Additionally, iOS 12.4.5 is available for older iPhone and iPad models that are not able to run the latest iOS and iPadOS 13 versions.

Separately, Apple has also released MacOS Catalina 10.15.3 for Mac, watchOS 6.1.2 for Apple Watch, and tvOS 13.3.1 for Apple TV, Security Update 2020-001 for macOS Mojave and High Sierra, all of which are also bug fix or security releases.

How to Download iOS 13.3.1 or iPadOS 13.3.1 Updates

Be sure to backup iPhone or iPad to iCloud, to Finder in MacOS, or iTunes, before installing any system software update. Failure to have a fresh backup can lead to permanent data loss.

  1. Open “Settings” app on iPhone or iPad
  2. Go to “General”, and then go to “Software Update”
  3. Select “Download & Install” for ‘iOS 13.3.1’ or ‘iPadOS 13.3.1’ to install on the device
  4. iOS 13.3.1 update

The updated device will reboot automatically as part of the installation process, when the device has booted back up it will be running the new system software.

Another option is to update to iOS 13.3.1 and iPadOS 13.3.1 through a computer. You can do that by connecting the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to a Windows PC with iTunes, or a Mac with iTunes, or a Mac with MacOS Catalina.

Advanced users can also use IPSW files to update system software which requires connecting the device to a computer as well, and the using either iTunes or Finder. Linked below are IPSW firmware files at Apple servers.
