How to Forward iCloud Mail to Other Email Address Automatically

Have an iCloud email address that you’d like to forward the emails from automatically to another email address? Many of us have multiple email addresses that are used for various different purposes, but if you’d like to have your iCloud emails automatically forward to another address, you’ll find that’s pretty simple to do.

Switching between and checking a bunch of different email addresses is obviously a bit inconvenient, and while you can add multiple email accounts to your iPhone or iPad Mail inbox with ease, you might also just want to consolidate in a different way and have them all forwarded to a single address too. Perhaps you created an iCloud.com email address before but don’t use it often, and just want those emails passed along elsewhere to a primary email account.

So, want to forward your iCloud.com emails to another account? Then read on!

To set up automatic forwarding, we’ll be using the browser client for iCloud to access the required settings. Therefore, it doesn’t really matter which device you use for this procedure, as long as you’re accessing iCloud.com from a desktop-class web browser.

  1. Go to iCloud.com from any web browser and type in your Apple ID details. Click on the “arrow” icon to log in to iCloud.

  6. You’ve successfully turned on automatic email forwarding in iCloud. Now, if you want to disable forwarding at any time, simply uncheck the same box. Or, if you want to change the email you want to forward to, you can backspace and type a different address in the “enter email address” box. Make sure to click “Done” to update your changes.

That’s pretty much all there is to it, you have set up and configured automatic forwarding of emails in iCloud to a different email address.

Keep in mind that the forwarding email address does not have to be an iCloud account at all. You can enter your Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, or any other email address for receiving forwarded messages.

When automatic forwarding is turned on, iCloud keeps a copy of all the emails you receive even after forwarding. However, this can be disabled by checking the box to delete messages after forwarding. This option is located right below the forward checkbox. Be mindful that messages once deleted cannot be recovered.

Unlike forwarding Gmail, iCloud doesn’t exactly verify the email address you want to forward your emails to. There’s no step where you need to enter a confirmation code for verification while enabling this feature – for now anyway. Although this may seem convenient, people could use this to spam random email addresses with forwarded messages.

If you don’t use iCloud, don’t worry. Most email service providers including Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc. allow users to automatically forward all your new messages to a different email address in a similar way too. Or maybe you want to go the other direction, and forward all emails from a different service to iCloud, and that’s certainly possible as well with most email offerings.

We hope you were able to set up automatic forwarding from your iCloud mail account without any issues. Let us know in the comments if you have any particularly noteworthy experiences, tips, suggestions, or advice.

What impact do rules have on forwarded mail? The “vacation” autoresponder? Anyone happen to know? It looks as though this feature is the only way I’ll be able to receive email from Apple, once my email is back to being served on my own domain, since my Apple ID is a me.com address and you can’t change the contact email for your Apple ID.
