How to Enable Bold Text on Apple Watch

Ever wished the text on Apple Watch was easier to read? You can increase legibility while looking at your Apple Watch by enabling bold text on your Apple Watch.

Apple Watch has a very small screen and unlike your smartphone or tablet, it’s not nearly as close to your face under typical use. Hence, navigating through the menu on your Apple Watch could sometimes be tricky if you have less than perfect eyesight, often requiring you to strain yourself to read the text that’s displayed on the screen. Using bold text instead of regular text can alleviate this issue to a certain extent. This is a great feature especially if you like using Bold Text on iPhone and iPad too.

The following procedure is identical for all Apple Watch models and watchOS versions.

  1. Press the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch to access the home screen. Scroll around and find the Settings app. Tap on it to proceed.

That’s pretty much all you need to do here.

Now that you’ve enabled bold text, the menu items and any written text in your watch face complications will be shown in bold, making it slightly easier to read without having to strain your eyes.

However, if this setting didn’t do much for your eyesight, you can use the Text Size setting from the same menu and increase the size of written text to improve the legibility even further. Note that this only applies to texts and it doesn’t make your watch face larger in any way.

Considering almost all Apple Watch users own an iPhone as well, you may also be keen on enabling bold text on your smartphone. The setting can be found in the Display & Brightness section and it’s also accessible on an iPad if you have one.

Hopefully, you’re able to use your Apple Watch normally without having to strain your eyes too much using bold text and text size settings. What’s your take on this accessibility feature? How can Apple further improve the text legibility on such a tiny display? Do share your ideas and voice out your opinions in the comments section down below.
