Disable Siri listening on Apple Watch

Don’t want Apple Watch to always be listening for the “Hey Siri” command? You can turn off Siri on Apple Watch if you want to stop it from listening to you, ready to take your commands.

We’ll show you how to turn off the Siri listening feature Apple Watch, which still allows you to use Siri if manually activated, and also how to turn off Siri completely so that the entire feature is not available on Apple Watch. Finally, we’ll also show you how to delete your Siri history and voice commands from Apple servers.

Note that by disabling Siri listening on Apple Watch for Hey Siri commands, you’ll have to manually engage Siri to issue a command, or use touch input. If you disable Siri entirely, the Apple Watch functionality is reduced to touch input only as no voice commands will be available.

How to Stop “Hey Siri” Listening on Apple Watch

You can turn off the Hey Siri command, which will prevent Apple Watch from listening to you.

  1. Open the “Settings” app on Apple Watch
  2. Tap “Siri”
  3. Toggle off “Listen for ‘Hey Siri'”

This does not disable Siri completely, however, as it only disables the Hey Siri command that listens to you from Apple Watch. This means you can still use Siri by holding down the side button on the Apple Watch, then issuing your command.

Turn off Hey Siri listening on Apple Watch:
To turn off “Hey Siri,” open the Settings app on your Apple Watch, tap Siri, then turn off Listen for “Hey Siri.”

How to Turn Off Siri Completely on Apple Watch

Don’t want to use Siri at all on Apple Watch, whether as Hey Siri listening mode or with the side button manual activation?

  1. Open Settings on Apple Watch
  2. Go to “Siri”
  3. Turn off “Listen for Hey Siri”
  4. Turn off “Raise to Speak”
  5. Turn off “Press Digital Crown”
  6. Confirm that you want to turn off Siri on Apple Watch

Now Siri won’t be active on the Apple Watch at all, under any circumstance. This limits the Apple Watch functionality for most users, and is therefore not really recommended.

Of course you can always go back and reverse the settings to enable the Siri feature on Apple Watch again, and set it to however you’re comfortable with using it.

How to Delete Siri History on Apple Watch

Siri keeps track of your usage and may store data on Apple servers for six months. You can delete this Siri history data from the Apple Watch by doing the following:

  1. Open Settings on Apple Watch
  2. Go to Siri
  3. Tap on Siri History
  4. Tap on Delete Siri History

This puts in a request to delete your Siri history from Apple servers.

This is all obviously covering Apple Watch, but you can also turn off Siri from listening on iPhone, Mac, iPad, and even HomePod, if it suits your desires, privacy concerns, or security needs.

Whether you use Siri or not is entirely up to you, and whether you want Siri always listening for that Hey Siri prompt is also up to you.

If this will really stop Siri repeating what I am listening to on Radio Broadcasts I will be over the moon. Thank you. For sure I do want to continue using Siri to send Messages and make Calls.
