Apple has released the first beta versions of iOS 15.6, iPadOS 15.6, and macOS Monterey 12.5 to users enrolled in the beta testing programs.

The new beta builds come just after the final versions of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 along with macOS Monterey 12.4 were released to the public.

It’s unclear what is being addressed or worked on with macOS Monterey 12.5 beta, iOS 15.6 beta, or iPadOS 15.6 beta, but no major new features or changes are expected. It’s probable the releases will focus on bug fixes and minor improvements, as Apple is undoubtedly focusing the majority of their efforts on the upcoming macOS 13, iOS 16, and iPadOS 16 betas that will be revealed at WWDC 2022 in a few weeks.

Users enrolled in the beta testing programs can find the new beta to download now from the respective software update mechanisms.

In iOS and iPadOS, that is Settings > General > Software Update

For macOS, that is  > System Preferences > Software Update

Additionally, there are also first beta versions of tvOS 15.6, watchOS 8.7, and HomePod 15.6 available to users interested in installing the betas on those devices.

Beta versions typically go through several releases before a final version becomes available, suggesting there is at least a month or more before the final versions of iOS 15.6, macOS 12.5, and iPadOS 15.6 become available.

The latest stable builds of system software available for Apple products are currently iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, macOS Monterey 12.4, tvOS 15.5, watchOS 8.6, and HomePod 15.5.
