iPadOS 16 Announced: Screenshots & Features
iPadOS 16 has been announced by Apple, and it includes some powerful features that iPad power users are sure to appreciate.
Most notable is the new Stage Manager multitasking feature, which allows users to have multiple overlapping windows together in groups, similar to the same feature on MacOS Ventura.
And for iPads with M1 chip (or better), you can use a 6k external display at full resolution, and Stage Manager allows the splitting of the workspace to include four apps on the external display, and four apps on the iPad display. This feature should be particularly handy to anyone who wants to use the iPad as a full fledged desktop computer.
Files app also includes some new desktop-class features, including the ability to change file extensions and view folder sizes.
Freeform is an intriguing new collaboration app, that allows users to see, share, and collaborate on the same canvas, with Apple Pencil support. Freeform has integration with FaceTime and Messages as well.
iPadOS 16 also gains features that are in iOS 16 and MacOS Ventura, including support for shared Safari tabs, the ability to unsend and edit Messages, the ability to schedule emails in Mail app, and enhancements to Live Text and Lookup.
The Weather app is also finally arriving in iPadOS 16.
iPadOS 16 beta is available for developers now, and will be released as a public beta next month.
The final version of iPadOS 16 is set to debut this fall, alongside iOS 16 and macOS Ventura.
