iPadOS 17 Beta 5 Available to Download Now
Apple has released iPadOS 17 beta 5 to users participating in the iPad developer beta program. Typically the new dev beta build is released first, and is followed soon after by the same build as a public beta.
Technically speaking, any adventurous user can install iPadOS 17 developer beta onto their iPad right now by joining the free Apple Developer program. Similarly, any user can join the public beta program as well.
Separately, new betas are also available for iOS 17 beta 5, MacOS Sonoma beta 5, watchOS 10 beta 5, and tvOS 17 beta 5.
How to Download iPadOS 17 Beta 5
Updating to new beta builds is the same as for other system software updates:
- Open the “Settings” app on iPad
- Go to “General”
- Select “Software Update”
- Choose to “Download and Install” for iPadOS 17 Beta 5
The iPad will restart to complete installation.
Beta system software is much buggier than final versions, so is generally an experience reserved for advanced users, and those will compelling needs to beta test upcoming system software versions before they are available to the general public.
iPadOS 17 features include interactive widgets, a customizable Lock Screen, NameDrop for easy contact swapping, Safari Profiles, FaceTime Video Voicemail, Health app comes to iPad, improvements to Stage Manager, changes to Messages, better predictive typing, and many other little changes and features.
Apple has said that the final version of iPadOS 17 will be released to in the fall.
