How to Stop Sharing Calendars on iPhone & iPad

Did you change your mind on a calendar that you’re sharing using your iPhone or iPad? Perhaps, you want to remove one or more people who have access to your shared calendar? It’s pretty easy to stop sharing a Calendar within the Calendar app of iOS and iPadOS.

Sharing your calendars from your iPhone and iPad is one thing, but managing your shared calendars is a completely different task. A shared calendar can be edited by other users if they have the necessary permissions, meaning they can add or remove events from the calendar. Therefore, it’s important to keep your shared list updated to make sure only the people you authorize can continue to make changes to the calendar you’re sharing.

How to Stop Sharing a Calendar on iPhone & iPad

The procedure is the same with basically all recent versions of iOS and iPadOS:

  1. First, launch the stock Calendar app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Upon opening the app, you’ll obviously see your calendar filled with all the events. Tap on the “Calendars” option from the bottom menu as shown below.

  3. This will list out all the calendars that are stored on iCloud. Tap on the “i” icon next to the calendar that you want to stop sharing.

  4. Here, you’ll be able to see the list of people you’re sharing the calendar with. Select the person that you want to remove from this shared list.

  5. Now, tap on “Stop Sharing” to remove the selected user from the shared list.

  6. The Calendar app will now prompt you to confirm your action. Tap on “Remove” to confirm and stop sharing your calendar with the selected user.

As you can see it’s pretty easy to stop sharing your calendars on your iPhone and iPad.

You can repeat the above steps to remove other users from the shared list. Unfortunately, you cannot stop sharing your calendar with all the people at once. You will have to remove them one by one using this method, and there’s no other way around it.

If you feel like removing users individually is a hassle, you can use the alternate way to share your calendars, which is by making the calendar public. This allows you to quickly share or stop sharing your calendars with a lot of people at the press of a toggle.
