Release Candidate 2 for iOS 14.6 & iPadOS 14.6 Released for Testing
Apple has released a second Release Candidate build of iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 to users participating in system software beta testing programs for iPhone and iPad.
The second release candidate of iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 comes two days after beta 1 of iOS 14.7 and iPadOS 14.7 were released for testing, setting up a situation where there are two concurrent beta versions of system software available for beta testers.
Release candidates are usually the final build of a beta development life cycle, suggesting that iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 will be finalized and released possibly as soon as next week. MacOS 11.4 Big Sur is also in release candidate, though a second version was not made available today.
iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 include bug fixes and other small enhancements to the iPhone and iPad operating systems, including some new features for AirTags, and support for a new high quality audio feature in Apple Music.
The second release candidate build can be downloaded now from the Software Update section of Settings app on eligible devices, assuming they didn’t already update to iOS 14.7 beta anyway.
Currently the most recent stable builds of system software for iPhone and iPad remains iOS 14.5.1 and iPadOS 14.5.1, whereas macOS Big Sur 11.3.1 is the most recent stable version available for Mac.
