How to Disable DoorDash Promo Notifications on iPhone

Tired of getting bombarded with frequent DoorDash advertising, promotional, and marketing notifications on iPhone? You’re not alone. If it feels like your notifications are getting spammed by DoorDash, this is a broad nuisance to many, and fortunately with some hidden settings adjustments, you can completely stop the DoorDash marketing rubbish that gets pushed to your notification center.

The Notification system on iPhone was once intended to only deliver to you important alerts about things that matter, like a missed call, an inbound text message, or an important email from a loved one or coworker. Unfortunately, the iOS Notification system is no longer just that, and far too many apps now take it upon themselves to (ab)use the notification system on iPhone to bombard you with advertising, spam, promotions, and marketing. Why this is allowed by Apple is a giant mystery, since it undoubtedly degrades the user experience, and far too many people simply don’t realize they can turn many of these notifications off. But if you thought that going into the Settings app > Notifications section was going to be the solution, that’s not entirely correct, because if you turn off all notifications for DoorDash then you will miss relevant alerts about pickups and deliveries of orders. Instead, you must go into a little-known settings section of the DoorDash app to toggle off all the nonsense manually. In fact, there are five different DoorDash notification settings to turn off to stop the promotional junk, five!

How to Stop DoorDash Promotional & Marketing Notifications

This is geared towards iPhone but it probably works the same on Android:

1. Open the “DoorDash” app on your iPhone
2. Go to your profile
3. Tap on “Settings” (it’s kind of hidden, you might need to swipe to see it)
4. Now go to “Notifications” and here’s where it gets fun, you have five different settings to toggle off to stop the notification promotional marketing barrage from DoorDash:
• Store Offers – OFF
• DoorDash Offers – OFF
• Recommendations – OFF
• Reminders – OFF
• Product Updates & News – OFF
5. If you only want to see order updates, make sure that you keep “Order Updates” ON for Push (because Push = notifications)

Here’s all the crap you will want to turn off in DoorDash Notifications settings if you don’t want to get random notifications about national taco day or some nearby restaurant having a sushi deal or whatever nonsense flies your way unsolicited:

By the way, I like DoorDash, I use it more than any other delivery app, so I’m not trying to pick on them here. And in fact, DoorDash is better than many other apps because at least they have the settings to turn this crap off (and most don’t). But that doesn’t mean that this hasn’t long annoyed me, and finally I had enough and dug into how to turn this off.
