If you previously enrolled an iPhone or iPad in the iOS 12 beta testing program, either as a public beta tester or as a developer beta tester, you may now wish to leave the iOS 12 beta program so that you no longer receive future beta system software updates. This also insures that you’ll stay on iOS 12.0 final and future final stable releases rather than getting the new beta updates as they come along.

By getting off of the iOS 12 beta track, you will only receive final builds of upcoming versions of iOS along with the rest of the general public, rather than receiving any of the incremental beta software updates (like iOS 12.1 beta 1 which is being tested right now).

Apple has released iOS 12 for compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Basically any device capable of running iOS 11 can run iOS 12, and with the software update focusing on performance improvements Apple is recommending that all eligible users update to iOS 12.

iOS 12 features performance enhancements to app launching and camera opening, the ability to create personalized Memoji on some iOS devices, four new Animoji characters, new sticker capabilities in FaceTime and Messages, a helpful Screen Time feature that allows you to set limits to application usage and monitor device usage, a new Shortcuts app that sort of functions like macros to perform semi-automated tasks in iOS, new Notifications management options, and many other small changes and subtle improvements to the iPhone and iPad operating system. The latest versions of Google Chrome web browser default to not showing the full URL of a website, stripping away any subdomains, including the “www” subdomain prefix, and URL schemes, which are labeled as ‘trivial’ by Chrome. This is controversial given that many websites use subdomains and “www” to host completely different websites, but nonetheless the setting is the new default in the Chrome browser.

If you’re a Google Chrome browser user and you want to always show the full URL including “www” or any subdomain, you can re-enable the display of full URL schemes in Chrome 69 or newer.
