Apple has released MacOS Ventura beta 9 to users enrolled in the beta testing programs for Mac system software.

MacOS Ventura 13 brings a variety of changes and new features to the Mac, including the Stage Manager multitasking interface, the ability to use an iPhone as a webcam through Continuity Camera, an ability to handoff FaceTime calls between devices, an ability to edit and unsend iMessages, functionality to schedule sending of emails in Mail app, an ability to unsend email in Mail app, a Safari Tab Grouping feature, the inclusion of Weather app, Clock app comes to the Mac, a completely redesigned System Preferences which has been renamed to System Settings and looks like it was copy and pasted directly from iPhone, and more.

iOS 16.1 Beta 3 & iPadOS 16.1 Beta 4 Released for Testing

Apple has released iOS 16.1 beta 3 and iPadOS 16.1 beta 4 to users enrolled in the beta testing programs for iPhone and iPad system software.

Notably, iPadOS 16.1 beta 4 brings the Stage Manager multitasking system to additional iPad Pro models that have A12X or A12Z CPU’s. Previously, Stage Manager was only available on M1 equipped iPad models.

iOS 16.1 beta for iPhone brings a few small new features to the iPhone as well, including adding the battery percentage indicator on more iPhone models, and support for the Live Activities feature which allows for seeing real time data on the iPhone lock screen to things like sports scores. Presumably the beta also includes various bug fixes to address some of the problems with iOS 16 experienced by some users as well.

This auto-delete Messages setting is perhaps most useful as a storage saving mechanism and should not really be considered a privacy setting for a variety of reasons, and it has some obvious downsides too, mainly that you could potentially forever lose some great memories, conversations, chat transcripts, photos, and videos exchanged between you and whoever else you’re communicating with.

iOS 16.2 beta 2 and iPadOS 16.1 beta 3 have been released by Apple to users participating in the beta testing programs.

As usual, the betas are first available for developers and soon become available as the same builds for public beta testers.

iOS 16.1 beta includes a few minor changes and additions, like bringing the status bar battery percentage indicator to more iPhone models, and support for a feature called Live Activities which allows you to see real-time data on things like sports scores from the iPhone lock screen. It also is likely to include a fix for the “Allow Paste” popup bug, though a separate bug fix release will be available sooner for that.

Many iOS 16 users on iPhone have noticed a goofy “Allow Paste” but on their devices that comes up when you attempt to use copy and paste between two different apps, say Messages and Notes, or from Safari to Notes, or Messages to Instagram, etc. Any built-in apps or third party apps seem to be subject to the issue.

The bug is not subtle, and if you experience it you’ll see frequent messages like ‘”Messages” would like to paste from “Safari”‘, “Do you want to allow this?” with two options for “Don’t Allow Paste”, or “Allow Paste”, neither of which serves to dismiss the popups from coming up again in the future.
